MY WORLD IN 360: SANDIA PEAK

Woe is me. I purchased a GE/Phillips hi-speed quad UBS port thinking that if it had four ports on it theoretically I would be able to have four electronic media devices plugged in at once...right. Well screw that.... I plugged in my digital camera then my digital cam-corder and splaaaaatz: power surge. It fried my cam-corder so the only video images that were saved were two semi-interesting ones that you will see below.

It sucks because some of the images I had captured were truely amazing. Swirling clouds as if they were filmed in high speed but they were not, they were real time. Cloud cover kept moving in then out then in then out at an amazing speed. It was sooo cool. Plus I had captured some images of the ascent and descent: all lost. Woe is me.

Damn you GE, damn you all to... you get the picture.

FLIGHT 21

As cold as it is I still had a craving for the banana creme pie shake at Sonic. If you are on a diet drive by....but if not you will not regret it. It is the best shake I've ever had.

That being said, I was scheduled for Flight 21 at Sandia Tram: 10,000 feet straight up. Talk about amazing...check these pics out man!!

The objective: to ascend the Sandia Mountains to a point of 10,378 feet.

[Don't forget you can click on any picture to enlarge it!!']

Wheels in motion.

Flight 21 now arriving.

Please get out your boarding passes.

Flight 21 now boarding.

Welcome to Sandia Peak.

My sister Dolores and I freezin' our tookis' off for this pic...hahaha.

MY WORLD IN 360: FIRST SNOW

2 POINTS FOR THE WEATHERMAN

Dayuum...the weather guy got it right!! It was on the cool side today and all cloudy. The Sandia Mtns were shrouded in clouds so I figured they would get the snow...but nope..tonight after dinner I thought I would check outside and there it was: the first snow of the season. It's an exciting feeling.

I'm stuffed....ugh.

PLEASE STAND BY

Hello viewers....I'm still trying to work out some technical difficulties when trying to upload videos. Sometimes they want to load sometimes they don't. They are of the specified size and type of file as per blogger but it's hit and miss. Here are a few from the archives.

First up is from last winter when we got our second snow and before the big punch breaking all previous snow records. I didn't take a lot of video at the time because I was on dial-up and it took forever to send them. I really like this new feature of blogger because now I can simply post them and with broadband its quick n' easy for the most part.

Next up is a video from the Tent Rocks between Albuquerque and Santa Fe. It is an amazing place and I need to return. The day I went last winter a big snow storm was approaching and I did not want to be caught in it so I left before I could see the 'cave' which I understand is pretty cool.

This one is from the road leading out of Tent Rocks. Boring I know but at the time I did not know I was going to be publishing it. I was hoping to get video of a Chuppacabra but no luck.

I hope you all have a GREAT Turkey Day!!! I know I will, I can't wait to start eating!!!

Best to all of you and a special shout out to my buddy Mike who will probably spend his T-Day in a Houston hospital by his partner's side. Both of you are in my prayers Mike.

I'm out.

GOLDEN HUE

Yesterday when I cut the grass, there was but a handful of leaves on the ground. Today around four pm I went out to water the yard and there were leaves all over the place.
Autumn is fleeting.

FLOAT ON

The 2008 New Mexico Rose Bowl Parade float was unveiled today. I like it. It's fun, whimsical and sure to be an eye-catcher. Last year the float was simply a southwestern Mission.

SANTA FE — Those world-famous space tourists who supposedly stopped in Roswell will represent New Mexico in the state's next Rose Parade float, the Tourism Department says.
The float is dubbed "Passport to Our World & Beyond" and features three big-headed green space aliens riding in an open-air UFO. There also will be rockets, planets and a 24-foot conical tower on the 18-foot-wide, 55-foot-long float. "New Mexico - Earth Spaceport," reads the tower's lettering.

This is the second time in three years that New Mexico has entered the widely televised New Year's Day event in Pasadena, Calif. In 2006, the state entered a float for the first time in 56 years.

The UFO theme stems from the story of a supposed UFO crash in the desert near Roswell in July 1947. The military said it was a weather balloon, but that never stopped the tale from establishing a spot in science-fiction folklore.

The space creatures on the float will be made from crushed split peas. They'll fly through clouds of white coconut and maneuver around colorful planets of orange, purple and hot pink roses and carnations.

The spacecraft will be made of silverleaf protea, with accents of gray poppy seeds and white coconut flakes.

Plans for the spaceport tower call for yellow strawflower and button mums, with a garden of 50,000 green roses. The spacecraft rocks from side to side as blasts of carbon dioxide emit from the rear of the craft.

"It's a festival of flowers, music and sports unequaled anywhere in the world and an incredible opportunity to extend an open invitation for all to come visit our beautiful Land of Enchantment," Tourism Secretary Michael Cerletti said Wednesday.

In the week after the 2006 parade, state officials reported a 16 percent spike in inquiries for tourism information in New Mexico. That year's float had an adobe-style church and more than 30,000 orange, red and yellow roses.

MY WORLD IN 360

The official premiere of MY WORLD IN 360!!! Let me know what you think!!!

LAND OF THE ZIA SEASON TWO

Welcome to the new diggs!!! Come on in and sit a spell.

So, how do you like the new format?? Comfortable eh?? Oh I might fine tune it a bit, move some things around etc but this is pretty much it.

One of the upgrades for season two is that I now have broadband!! That being said I would like to introduce a new feature called MY WORLD IN 360.

MY WORLD IN 360 are videos I will take giving you an overview of my adventures. I sure wish I had this feature when I went to Sky City of Acoma. Oh well, guess I will have to go again.

For now though, enjoy some vids of the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta....it's almost like being there. To those of you with dial-up you may have trouble viewing the video's and I do apologize.
