STORMWATCH 2006!!! Film at 11

As this storm draws to a close so does the year. It's been an awkward year for me. I'm still getting use to my new surroundings. I hope the upcoming year has many adventures for me. Of course, I will share them with you. Have a safe and healthy New Years everyone and to all a good night.

"Let's go tubin' now everybody's tubin' now come on go tubin' with meeeee!!"

The Fog and the Glitter

As beautiful as the snow looks... the aftermath can be very aggrivating. Ice EVERYWHERE. Cars slipping and sliding all over the roads, spin outs etc etc.

The icicles are cool and there is this meteorological effect that for the lack of the actual name I'll call the 'glitter effect'. As the snow begins to melt the sun reflects off the rising water vapor and you see this glittery effect in the air. Sort of like seeing someone "beam" up. Pretty cool. Doesn't photograph well though.

Also, the fog can be a monster.

The fog comes
on little cat feet.

It sits looking
over harbor and city
on silent haunches
and then moves on.
-- carl sanburg

I don't know what happened to Antonio Bay tonight.
Something came out of the fog and tried to destroy us.
In one moment, it vanished.
To the ships at sea who can hear my voice,
look across the water, into the darkness.
Look for the fog.
-- Stevie Wayne

...more snimages

Well we broke a few records indeed. Largest snow fall recorded in city history.

Can't recall when the city last looked so beautiful.

My newphew stationed in San Diego was due in last night but his plane kept getting delayed. I had to WALK to the airport about a mile away to meet up with him and WALK back home with him and his gear. Navigation on the road just wasn't happening.

This is a Mosk near by. I say its a rocket launcher and a damn purdy one too.

This car isn't going anywhere.

Neither is my truck.

What a mess, eh.

An Antarctic weather station?? No, a warehouse near by.

Picture speaks for itself....hahaha

At the airport.

Looking the fool in the snow. This is only December...our worst weather usually comes in January if you can believe that!

I'm out.

It's not like I had to work today.

Snow + Images = Snimages

Round two. More snow. Not not much one can do when the weather is like this.

A Change at Christmas

I know that everything changes
Its strange how time marches on
Well maybe there will be some time in the future
Tell me I'm not wrong

If I could stop time
It would be a frozen moment just around Christmas
When all of mankind reveals its truest potential
And there is sympathy for the suffering
And there is sympathy for those who are suffering
And the world embraces peace and love and mercy
Instead of power and fear
And as sure as I'm standing here
I swear it really does appear
That a change comes over us
Yes some change comes over us
And its glimpsed for one shining moment
And this change it feels like a change that is real
but then it passes
Along with the season
And then we just go back to the way we were
Say it isn't so

Tell me that I'm not just a dreamer
Tell me...cause I'm talking with a friend
And he knows how it ends
He says its easier
He says that's just the way we are
That its just human nature and its the way we are

Say it isn't so
Say it isn't so

-- Wayne Coyne

Merry Christmas everyone!!!

The Day After

Our six to ten inches of snow might not compare to Denver's;however, Albuquerque is not use to seeing this much white stuff in so short a time. The city's resources are overloaded when an event such as this happens because of the simple fact that we don't have the equipment like they do back east. Sure is purdy though.

Sno...ho...ho...

Dayuuum!! I wasn't kiddin' when I said I would post some 'snow pics' was I. The airport is closed as are both Interstate 25 and 40 in or out of the city. High today was like 38.

Yet they are basking in the sun in the 70s back east. Go figure. Here are a few images from today.

Happy Holidays from the Great Southwest!!!

The Birds

Winter does not officially start until December 21st. The birds know differently. We are expecting a big storm tonight. Yesterday was nice and sunny around 52. Beautiful day. Things turned ugly today though. Winds up to 60 miles an hour are starting as I write this. By midnight rain mixed with snow and tomorrow 70 percent chance of snow 3-5 inches possible in the city, more in the foothills. Skiiers are gonna love it.

The birds I captured on camera today though know winter is already here. Who knows...maybe snow pics tomorrow.

Maybe, just maybe a white Christmas?????
