Land of Vanishing Beauty

Stewart Udall passed away in Santa Fe, NM this weekend.

Udall was Secretary of the Interior under John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B Johnson and was an icon in the environmental and conservation communities.

He presided over the acquisition of four national parks: Canyonlands in Utah, Redwood in California, North Cascades in Washington State, and Guadalupe Mountains in Texas.

"Plans to protect air and water, wilderness and wildlife are in fact plans to protect man."
